Meet Laura

Fall Hiking with the Aspens turning, Silverthorne

Hi, I’m Laura!

Triptipedia Top 3 contributor

Author of 2 travel books

I founded FineLine Creative, a marketing and creative boutique in 2003. After 20 adventurous years running a small business, I sold the company in 2022. Now, besides prioritizing adventure travel and more mountain biking, I currently work as a travel writer and marketing consultant, to help organizations embrace the digital transformation in today’s media landscape. With over 25 years of experience, I’ve been around the marketing block a few times!!

My marketing wheelhouse (biking pun intended) focuses on brand messaging, digital content, social media campaigns, and website management. The goal is to help travel destinations, business or organizations find their authentic voice, alongside a connected digital strategy to increase marketing results and ROI.

My first book, I’ve Gotta Pack was published in 2012 and it spawned a travel blog that began shortly after. Since 2015, I’ve been partnering with destinations to promote the outdoor and adventure travel niche. My feature blogs are full of juicy details and insight on destinations for the active traveler that include mountain biking, hiking, golfing, skiing and more.

My husband Josh Watson and I live in west Michigan and our current travels are referred to as the adventures of Holmes & Watson. In the blog and book discover trip ideas, places to stay, people, adventure and twists/turns that will make you laugh. As an ambassador for life-work-play balance, my mission is to inspire YOU to travel your way to happy!

Let’s Work Together!

Need a Lift? (The Highlands)

Need a Lift? (The Highlands)

I inspected two diverse piles of clothing before shoving them in my overnight bag for our fall weekend adventure at The Highlands in Harbor Springs. One stack included a skort, a collared shirt, and a ball cap. The second pile had a pair of outer shorts, a padded...

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Room to Ride

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Room to Ride

Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is 1/3 of the state’s land area, but only 3% of the state’s population lives here. Being a troll (someone who lives below the Mackinaw Bridge), I crave the vastness and room to roam in the upper, and like most outdoorsy types, Josh and I...
